Mum's genius washing hack means socks will never go missing again
A mum-of-six has come up with a genius washing hack that means single socks will never go missing in the washer or tumble dryer ever again, and others can't wait to try
One of the biggest bugbears of anyone who uses a washing machine are missing socks. Most homes have a number of single socks, with the other half missing into the void. Where do they go?
One mum who was sick of her "washing machine eating one sock" she decided to come up with a plan of action – and she created a hack she now swears by.
As a mum-of-six aged between three and 13, Sarah Dobson found herself tearing her hair out about losing socks – and came up with a simple solution that has made her life so much easier.
Taking to Facebook, the mum from Sydney, Australia, wrote: "I just wanted to share this little idea I had for my six kids' dirty clothes'."
She shared a picture of a small rack with wheels on the bottom, with hangers and six white mesh bags hooked onto them.
Sarah explained: "Bra bags with all kids names on them, socks and undies go in the bags, everything else in the basket no more sorting.
"Everything gets washed in the bags, then in the dryer straight to their rooms."
That way, she knows which socks belong to which child, and the pairs stay together.
Sarah came up with the idea six months ago after being fed up of always losing a single sock. She told Kidspot: "I have endless piles of single socks, and I was tired of matching socks and also remembering who belongs to whom."
Other mums thought Sarah's invention was genius, with one person saying: "Genius, I have four girls and they can never seem to find a pair of socks and I have TWO laundry baskets full of socks jocks and random clothes".
Another commented: "Excellent idea. I'm definitely doing this, because I'm sick of my washing machine and dryer eating one sock all the time."
But that isn't all. Sarah shared another game-changing cleaning hack that she uses for hanging her children's clothes.
Sarah doesn't fold any of her kids' clothes, and instead puts them on hangers that go straight on the clothing line. When they are dry they go straight to the cupboards.
Sarah said: "I don't fold any clothes, everything is hung up on coat hangers wet, put on the line and then put straight into wardrobes, the only drawer I have for all the kids is one sock drawer and one underwear drawer."
